Russian police put electoral analyst on wanted list over 2024 election fraud exposure

Ivan Shukshin’s research proved Putin had won thanks to 22 million fake votes.

The Russian Ministry of Interior Affairs has launched a manhunt for Ivan Shukshin, a programmer and election analyst who earned international notoriety thanks to his research about the 2018 and 2024 presidential elections in Russia.

The expert, who has emigrated from Russia for fears of repression, is wanted for trial on criminal charges, the notice reads, without specifics about the nature of Shukshin’s alleged crimes.

Shukshin believes the authorities are targeting him because of his publications about election frauds during the 2018 and 2024 presidential elections. After the latest scrutiny, which was won by Vladimir Putin, the analyst uncovered massive falsification in favor of the winner - approximately 22 million fake votes had been dumped in ballot boxes in favor of the incumbent.

“Apparently, fraudsters didn’t like reading that.

Perhaps my regular reports on vote-rigging in governor elections played a role too,” Shukshin said in an interview with the Telegram channel Agentstvo.

Before getting an entry in the official manhunt list, the researcher had been summoned by police officers in Gelendzhik for questioning about his research. Shukshin sensed the danger and left Russia then.

Ivan Shukshin published his research about the March 2024 presidential election on independent online platforms and shared with the media. Although the Russian authorities curtailed independent election monitoring, he and other researchers began analyzing publicly available data from the Central Election Commission using the Kiesling-Shpilkin method.

Shukshin concluded that around 22 million votes had been falsified in favor of Putin. He also demonstrated that Vladimir Putin had actually lost the 2018 presidential elections but kept his grip on power due to massive frauds.

The same result was obtained by the investigative team Vazhnye Istoryi.

Novaya Gazeta, an independent outlet, counted during its own investigation that at least 31.6 million votes had been “stuffed” or falsified in favor Putin, calling the 2024 presidential scrutiny an “unprecedented electoral sham” in Russian history.
