It showed famous women whose faces were inserted into hardcore porn with artificial intelligence – without their consent.

A Canadian hospital pharmacist has been identified as a central figure behind MrDeepFakes, one of the internet’s most notorious websites for AI-generated, non-consensual pornography.

The site, now shut down, had hosted nearly 70,000 deepfake videos of mostly female celebrities, amassing over 2.2 billion views.

David Do, 36, from suburban Toronto, led a double life. While publicly maintaining a respectable career in healthcare, he secretly ran and contributed to the site under aliases such as “dpfks” and “AznRico.”

A collaborative investigation by Bellingcat, CBC, TjekDet, and Politiken uncovered his identity by tracing a decade-long digital trail through breached email addresses, reused usernames, and unique passwords.

Do refused to comment when asked by a CBS journalist about his role in MrDeepFakes.

Do’s online activity included producing deepfakes, giving technical advice, recruiting moderators, and soliciting payments. Investigators connected his personal email accounts and social media presence to forum posts and admin profiles tied to the site.

After being approached for comment, Do deleted his and his family’s social media accounts and traveled to Portugal. Upon returning to Canada, he declined to respond to media inquiries.

He is currently on leave from his hospital job, while professional and regulatory bodies conduct internal investigations.

MrDeepFakes went offline shortly after the revelations, stating that a critical service had been terminated and the site would not return.

Bellingcat uploaded a video on this topic on its YouTube page.
