Red Sea Global, a company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has released new videos (one, two) about the progress in construction of a Red Sea paradise city, Amaala.
The videos feature the activities at the building site Triple Bay Resort in Marina Village, which will host luxury amenities like marina services, gastronomy, retail, hotels, condos, and exhibition spaces. No exact opening date is available as of now.
Upon completion, the city would have 25 hotels with 3,000 rooms as well as 200 retail establishments, fine dining, wellness, and recreational facilities. In February 2023, Red Sea Global announced the first hotel in Amaala, the 65-key Clinique La Prairie Health Resort (pictured below), was slated to accommodate the first guests in mid-2024 but no news about an opening ceremony has surfaced yet.
At a cost of $5 billion, the Amaala Project aims to develop a world-class destination for wellness, healthy living, entertainment, and catering to the ultra-luxury segment of the tourism market, on an area of around 4,200 square kilometers.
The project is overseen by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom’s de facto ruler, who has vowed to transform the country into a hub of innovation, sustainability and cultural heritage.

Amaala will run entirely on renewable energy resources, which is intriguing given Saudi Arabia’s reliance on oil exports. The project in turn is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program, which aims to diversify the kingdom’s economy and attract tourism revenues.
In parallel, the kingdom has been building a futuristic, line-shaped urbanity called The Line, a NEOM Project stretching on 25,000 square kilometers.
